Friendship Poem of the Week # 2

Let Me Be the Bandage for Your Bleeding
Let me be the bandage for your bleeding;
Let me be the ocean for your tears.
Let me be the secret of your healing;
Let me be the song to still your fears.

Love isn't love that cannot love in darkness,
Nor is it love that turns away from pain;
Nor would I love would I not hold your sadness
And with my love your love of life sustain.

So do not think your malady a burden,
And do not think my willingness deceit.
Just let your sorrow flow into my garden,
And I will share with you the harvest sweet.

The american idol of The Weak

I don't know if you've been watching American Idol. I have - - and I got a not-that-secret crush on a contestant: Adam Lambert or, as we the fans call Him, simply "Glambert".
He is gorgeous, possibly gay, over the top, an amazing performer and he reaches awesome high pitch notes (oh, I miss listening to Kate Bush). He might win, Lihai. He is like an emo David Bowie/Elvis Presley. Seriously.

Adam in drag mode:

How awesome that he can actually win such a conservative tv show?
Hey, maybe Obama is right - things are changing?!
* not the state of american economy tho *

Yesterday was the part 1 finale episode (today will be the coronation of the winner). They made him and the other contestant - about him you just need to know he is from the south/plays accoustic guitar/is christian/married/looks cute - both sing the most HORRID CORNY SONG EVER. The new judge wrote it. Total absolute garbage called "No boundaries".

We should have our own program. Hell, if people that produce the most watched tv show in the US can be that bad at their jobs and still get away with it... let's let's let's

Ideas for a reality tv show, please, in 5..4..3..

Honey, I'm home

I'm using Hotspot shield right now, so I can avoid our lovely chinese censorship (more on that later.)

I missed blogging. I miss Carolina. Sorry I left you all by yourself writing "friendship poems". I read them, I was just not being able to replay. or comment. infuriating, really.

Well, having said that, I know you'll forgive me. Oh, the spanish exam.. god, I sucked.

привет

Anna Pavlova performing the Dying Swan blew my mind when I watched for the first time, and I keep coming back to it. It was choreographed for her in 1905 by Michel Fokine to the music of Camille Saint-Saens and it's been done a million times since by others, but nobody does it like Pavlova. She is just as much an actress as a dancer.

I also found this conversation about Pavlova between Natalia Makarova and Sir Frederick Ashton which is quite funny. In addition to Makarova's amazing accent and Ashton's descriptions of Pavlova's style (he saw her live when he was 13 and decided to devote himself to dancing) there are also some more clips of Pavlova dancing.

Finally: I have decided I have to learn russian. I lööv that language. I am also reading War & Peace now and I'm completely absorbed by it. Coincidentally they are showing a quite new adaption of it on tv right now and I just saw the first episode today. I have to say they fast forward a little bit too fast sometimes but I'm very happy with the choice of actor for the part of Prince Bolkonsky (hot) so all is forgiven.
Peace
C

laowai overload

There is this competition called Chinese Bridge where they try to find the best foreign chinese speaker. Here is the American contestant. His special skill: looking like Harry Potter.
I'm sorry he doesn't have his robe and wand in this picture. Please go to the lovely video for full appreciation.

guilty pleasures #1

Ok, so this might not be that kind of blog but bear with me. I love nail polish. And the severe deprivation of manicures in this godforsaken place has had me dreaming of Chinese ladies with crazy ornamented nails and their million little bottles of deliciously coloured nail polish. Maybe I've just inhaled too much of the stuff...
Anywho, I was surfing for the new o.p.i's and I found a Swedish site that sells all their colours! Imagine my happiness when I placed an order for my beloved and long lost You don't know Jacques?. A little last season perhaps, but I don't care. It's me and Jacques forever now. *sighs* Oh, I should end this post before Lauren realises she shouldn't leave me alone with the site. But she is after all partly to blame for this sickly obsession. One might say she introduced me to the drug, while a certain other person (you know who you are) pulled me deep down with the Jacques and his kin.

post note: New colour - Didgeridoo Your Nails? hehe. too much? I stop now.

things I miss

Hot pot. Hot. Pot. Miss eating it. Miss saying it. Hot pot.
But what I really miss is having hot pot on a really hot day.
